Williamsville's new lake, bordered by Route 66 was recently stocked with fish by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR). DNR recommended to the Village of Williamsville to prohibit fishing in the lake until April 1, 2025 for the fish to mature and to benefit the lake. Per DNR's request, the Village of Williamsville passed an ordinance on April 24, 2023 at their board meeting prohibiting fishing at the new lake until April 1, 2025.
Any person violating the ordinance will be subject to fines as follows: $100 for the first violation; $300 for the second violation; and $750 for the third and all subsequent violation.
