Services

Recycling Through Waste Haulers The 3 waste haulers that serve Williamsville are Lake Area Disposal, Republic Services (formerly Illini Disposal) and Waste Management. All 3 have recycling services available. Please contact your waste hauler for specific information on how to recycle.
Cardboard Recycling A recycling bin is in place behind the Police Station for residents' use in recycling corrugated cardboard. Please only use this dumpster for your personal cardboard, not for your business. Please flatten the boxes so they take up less space in the dumpster and, if the dumpster is full, DO NOT pile the cardboard on the ground alongside. It gets especially messy when there's rain and mud, so keep your cardboard until the container has been emptied. Also, the truck picks up the entire dumpster, so it won't get anything in the surrounding area. We have arranged for pick up to be on both Mondays and Wednesdays. This is twice the pick ups we formerly had. No chipboard is to be recycled here. Local Ordinance 205-1(B)(2) Dumping applies to this cardboard dumpster. Anyone who leaves cardboard from their business or piles cardboard up alongside the dumpster is in violation of this ordinance and may be warned or fined. The area is monitored with a 24-hour video camera, so please do your part to help us keep this area clean. Thanks for your cooperation and help!
Recycling at the Library There are recycling bins at the Williamsville Public Library and Museum for eyeglasses, batteries, ink cartridges and cell phones. The bins are located just inside the front door. Please take advantage of this opportunity!
Medication: The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) recommends that unwanted or expired medicine should be brought to a hazardous household waste event or pharmacy which offers this recycling service. Please do NOT flush unused medication because waste water treatment plants do not treat pharmaceutical waste. You may also google
Allowed Burning Dates The burning of landscape waste is allowed within the Village of Williamsville from 9:00 a.m. until Sunset on each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of each month during the time period March 1st through May 20th (inclusive) and during the time period September 15 through December 15 (inclusive) of each calendar year. Burning is only permitted when the wind air speed is 14 m.p.h. or less (as reported by the National Weather Service) and the fire must be supervised at all times by a legally competent adult. Prior to starting the fire the landscape waste must be dry to the touch and a water hose must be connected to a water source and accessible. Burning must be on the owner's property or alongside the street or alley adjacent to the owner's property. Please do not burn landscape waste in the street or alley! Village of Williamsville Burning Ordinance Visit Illinois EPA Regulations on Burning to learn more.
Grass, Leaf and Branch Pick Up The Village of Williamsville provides FREE landscape waste pick-up service to all residents. Leaf and grass waste must be packaged in biodegradable bags and such bags are available at the Village Hall most of the year. Each resident may pick up two packages of bags for the year. No plastic garbage bags, please. Branches cannot be greater than 2 inches in width. If you choose (or if you miss your pick-up day), you may take your landscape waste directly to the area behind the Williamsville Lake. We ask that you observe the signs there and only drop off what is appropriate in each area.
